Pence: Stay off the road and out of the way of plows

Statement as issued late Thursday afternoon by the office of Indiana Gov. Mike Pence:

“Winter storms like this one make travel a challenge for all our citizens. Hoosier motorists may be assured that the State of Indiana will continue to monitor the road conditions and weather and will respond with all available resources. As winter weather continues throughout much of the state, we also encourage drivers in affected areas to stay safe by avoiding unnecessary travel and making way for plow trucks and crews on the roads.”

Road conditions are accessible at http://indot.carsprogram.org/main.jsf. For up-to-date county travel statuses, Hoosiers are encouraged to visit http://www.in.gov/dhs/traveladvisory/. Since winter storms hit Indiana late Wednesday into Thursday morning, the Indiana Department of Transportation has deployed more than 740 trucks and crews and will continue to work to clear state roads as inclement weather continues.
