Dog taken at hospital is returned

A young dog taken from a vehicle in the middle of the night while the owner was helping his mother into the hospital has been returned.

Auburn police Chief Martin McCoy said Peanut was anonymously dropped off before noon Tuesday at Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control. The dog has been reunited with her owner.

Earlier today, the Auburn Police Department asked for the public’s help in finding the dog what was taken from the owner’s vehicle while the owner was dealing with his mother at DeKalb Health, 1316 E. Seventh St.

He told police about 2:20 a.m. that he had spent about two hours at the hospital and that the dog was gone when he returned.
