Cheers

CHEERS to

the man and woman sitting across from my neighbor and me at Sara’s Family Restaurant. They left a $20 bill to pay for our meal. We will certainly pay it forward.

BETTY MURPHY and NOLA EMERICK Ossian

CHEERS to the friendly man who noticed my husband’s Korean cap on the table and stopped to shake his hand and thank him while we were dining at Bob Evans recently. He also was a vet. When we were ready to pay our bill, we were informed this man had already done so. We don’t have his name but thank him and will pass on the good deed.

PATRICIA SHERWOOD Fort Wayne

CHEERS to the University of Saint Francis and the many organizations and volunteers who presented this year’s Christ Child Festival. After many years it was moved to the Performing Arts Center of the University of Saint Francis and was infused with a new look and new life.

The idea was originated in 1951 by a handful of motivated Christians who wanted to focus on the Christ of Christmas. This year’s event was both meaningful and beautiful and enjoyed by hundreds who attended. For 62 years this is still an event that needs to be on everyone’s list for celebrating the Christmas holiday.

DON WARNER Fort Wayne

CHEERS to the businesses that helped in sponsoring the Dec. 14 breakfast sponsored by Norwell Show Choirs at the Ossian United Methodist Church. Events such as this cannot happen without community support. We are fortunate to live where businesses place their support behind the young people of the community. The high school/middle school choir students and their families wish to thank these businesses for their support and donations. We’d also like to thank the parents and children who enjoyed the breakfast and the visit with Santa Claus.

BETH PRICE and NIKKI GRAFT Chairs, Breakfast with Santa

CHEERS to the lovely people who treated me to lunch at Biaggi’s on Dec. 8 through a gift certificate. I was overwhelmed but very delighted. I will pass it on.

ROSIE GREINER Fort Wayne

CHEERS to Easter Seals Arc, AWS Foundation and Advocacy Links for letting me see the movie “Frozen” for free. I liked it because they kept the lights on and it was not so loud.

SAM FLOYD Huntertown

CHEERS to the law firm of Haller & Colvin. Thank you to all the staff, lawyers and spouses for submitting recipes for a fund-raising cookbook with all proceeds going to their Christmas family.

ELAINE LEWIS Fort Wayne

CHEERS to all the deserving children who attended the Deaf Santa event sponsored by the Northeast Indiana Deaf Awareness Council on Dec. 7. A total of 46 children met Santa and received a present. DeafLink provided interpreting services.
