Car sellers turn out to be armed robbers

Instead of bringing a car to sell, they pulled out guns, demanded money and started shooting and using pepper spray.

New Haven police officers were sent to an empty lot at 2525 Meyer Road around lunchtime. When they arrived, two men said they had gone there planning to meet someone to buy a maroon 1982 Olds Cutlass two-door, according to a statement issued by the department.

The two told police that two men got out of a black SUV, described as a GMC Yukon four-door with tinted windows and no license plate. They said shots were fired into the air and that that they were pepper sprayed.

One of the suspects was described as a black, about 6-foot-0, with a medium build, dressed in black jeans, a black jacket and a black stocking cap. He was also wearing a small “Frankenstein” mask that went only up to his chin.

The second suspect was described as a black, about 5-foot-9, with a medium build. He had a goatee and mustache, and was also wearing a black stocking cap.
