Homestead junior recommits to IPFW women's basketball team

Homestead junior point guard Josie Fisher recommitted to the IPFW women’s basketball program.

Fisher made her intentions known Christmas Eve to Mastodons coach Chris Paul, according to an email sent Tuesday from her father, John Fisher.

“The family is very excited about her decision,” John Fisher wrote.

Fisher committed to the Mastodons last November but decommitted in May.

“Everyone always told me that you’ll know when you know, and I just had a really good feeling about IPFW,” Josie Fisher wrote in a text message. “They’ve always been my No. 1 choice, even after my decommitment.

“And I thought it was really cool how Coach Paul still went to all my events and has always supported me.”

Fisher will be another in a recent trend of area players Paul has gotten into the program, which includes current freshmen Ariana Simmons from South Side and Rachel Rinehart from Angola.

Fisher averages 10.4 points and a team-high 7.4 assists for the Spartans, who are 9-0 and ranked No. 3 in Class 4A heading into Friday’s Hall of Fame Classic.
