Unresponsive infant dies

Cause unknown; child was sleeping

Fort Wayne police officers and emergency crews responded to a call about 10:25 a.m. Sunday morning regarding an unresponsive infant who later died at a local hospital, according to a statement from the Fort Wayne Police Department.

A preliminary investigation indicates the 1-year-old child was sleeping with a parent at a house in the 1000 block of W. Creighton Ave. when the child became unresponsive, the statement said.

The death remains under investigation. The cause and manner of death will be determined by the Allen County coroner after an autopsy.
