The Allen County Public Library Board approved more salary increases for employees Thursday.
All employees will see a 3 percent increase, which was approved last month. In addition, those working at the minimum hourly rates at several job levels will see another 3 percent to 6 percent increase after the library board approved a new pay structure Thursday.
Employees working at hourly minimums in levels 1 through 4 will receive a 6 percent increase, and those receiving hourly minimums at levels 5 and above will receive 3 percent.
The library employs just over 300, Director Jeff Krull said.
We are still way down from where we would like to be as far as staffing, Krull said. We are hopeful that as there is more growth in property assessments and so forth, we will be able to hire more employees.
The hourly minimum for a grade level 1 employee will be $7.92 an hour, with a maximum rate of $13.65, while the hourly minimum for the top level (8) will be $22.92 an hour, with a maximum rate of $37.35.
The top paying positions in 2014 include director, $154,814; chief financial officer, $96,699; communications and development manager, $84,822; human resources manager, $84,406; and Access Fort Wayne TV manager, $66,539.
In other business, as of Jan. 6, library patrons will be able to access Hoopla, a digital service that streams movies and television shows to mobile devices and computers.
Card holders are allowed six downloads a month, Krull said. There is an automatic return feature that eliminates late fees, he said. For more information, go to www.acpl.lib.in.us.
At the close of the meeting, the board recognized longtime member Gene Jerry Hoemig, who will step down at the end of his fourth term Dec. 31.
Jerry has been on the board since 1998, board member Alan McMahan said. He has been a prominent leader and a tireless advocate of the library.
Krull also expressed his gratitude to Hoemig.
I have enjoyed your support, wise counsel and dedication to the goals of the library, Krull said while presenting Hoemig with a commemorative plaque.
