Indianapolis police fatally shoot armed man

INDIANAPOLIS – Indianapolis police have fatally shot a man who fled from officers at a park and holed himself inside a house with a gun.

Police said it’s not clear why the man fled from Brookside Park on the city’s east side Wednesday, but they say they believe the man was on probation for a charge of driving while intoxicated. The man was not immediately identified.

Police said the man led officers on a pursuit from the park to a home on the city’s southeast side. When officers heard the man inside the house cock a gun, one officer fired a shot through an open window, fatally wounding the suspect.
