Children find bodies of mother, estranged boyfriend

INDIANAPOLIS – Indianapolis police say two children discovered the bodies of their mother and her estranged boyfriend following an apparent murder-suicide.

Police say the children, ages six and 11, found Tamika Jones-Fleming and her boyfriend, Thomas Emery, dead in their home from gunshot wounds to head about 7 a.m. Monday.

Detectives say the 11-year-old reported hearing an argument Sunday night and three “booms.” The children awoke Monday to find the bodies.

Police believe the couple had separated and was arguing about their relationship before Emery allegedly shot Jones-Fleming and then took his own life.

The Indianapolis Star reports ( ) Emery was the father of the younger child.

Jones-Fleming’s aunt, Sheryll Washington, says “now you’ve got two little ones that have to deal with the fact that their mother was killed.”
