Sunday package delivery today
The Postal Service will be delivering packages in selected ZIP code areas the two Sundays before the Christmas holiday. In the Fort Wayne area, the Centennial, Diplomat Plaza, Hazelwood, Northwood and Waynedale post offices will be making Sunday package delivery today and Dec. 22.
In fiscal year 2013, the Postal Service saw a 6 percent increase in package volume over the prior year. An additional 12 percent increase is expected this holiday season, totaling 420 million packages.
The deadline for sending first-class mail in time for Christmas is Friday. The deadline for sending priority mail is Saturday. The priority mail express deadline is Dec. 23, for local delivery.
Priority mail express will be delivered Christmas Day. First-class cards and letters can also be dropped into local postal blue collection boxes – even on Sundays.
I&M to conduct aerial inspections
Beginning Monday, Indiana Michigan Power will conduct helicopter aerial inspections on its high-voltage lines and towers in portions of central and western Indiana as well as southwest Michigan.
Helicopters will fly over transmission lines in the following Indiana counties: Delaware, Fountain, Grant, Huntington, Lake, LaPorte, Madison, Marshall, Porter, Pulaksi, St. Joseph, Starke, Sullivan, Tippecanoe, Vermillion, Vigo and White. Michigan counties include: Berrien, Cass, Van Buren, and Kalamazoo.
I&Ms contractor, Due North Aviation, will conduct the inspection work using a helicopter with tail number N105JD.
