Giving back

St. Joseph-St. Elizabeth School first-graders raised more than $1,000 through its “Cookies for Christ” fundraiser for the Sunshine Club, which gives clothing, toys, household items and foods to needy families.

Hoosiers Feeding the Hungry in Corunna is asking farmers and hunters to donate surplus farm and large game animals to help needy families at area food banks. To donate, take your field-dressed animal to one of several participating butchers, which can be found at www.hoosiersfeedingthehungry.org or call 260-541-0365.

•More than $18,000 was collected Nov. 20 during the “Supermarket Sweep” by Owen’s Supermarket, Mission Point Community Church and Grace College in Winona Lake. Nonperishable food items were donated to Combined Community Services, Our Father’s House and Salvation Army and baby formula and diapers were donated to Heartline Pregnancy Center.

American Senior Communities raised more than $227,000 for the Alzheimer Association.

Volunteers sought

Volunteers are needed to help wrap holiday gifts collected through Home Instead Senior Care’s Be a Santa to a Senior event from 2 to 5 p.m. today at Arbor Glen, 5202 St. Joe Road.
