Winslet welcomes 3rd child

A spokeswoman for Kate Winslet says the actress has given birth to a son and is “doing great.”

Publicist Laura Symons says Winslet had a boy, her third child, on Saturday at a hospital in southern England. She says mother and baby are both doing well.

The baby’s name has not been announced.

This is 38-year-old Winslet’s first child with husband Ned Rocknroll, whom she married last year. She has a daughter, Mia, and a son, Joe, from previous marriages to directors Jim Threapleton and Sam Mendes.

More ‘Tosh.0’ due

Comedian Daniel Tosh got a huge vote of confidence from Comedy Central on Tuesday when the network pledged to renew his show “Tosh.0” for three consecutive seasons (6, 7 and 8).

The show, which finds Tosh blithely riffing on some of the funniest and most buzzworthy clips on the Internet, was to conclude its fifth season Tuesday evening. Season 6 will premiere Feb. 18.

Changing channel

A&E Networks says its Bio Channel will be going through big changes next summer.

The company announced Wednesday that Bio is set to be rebranded as FYI. It describes FYI as a contemporary lifestyle network.

A&E Networks head Nancy Dubuc says it will target upscale viewers and will have a younger and more modern sensibility than existing lifestyle networks have displayed.

The network says it has more than 30 potential new series in development meant to inspire and not instruct its audience.

‘Hobbit’ lawsuit

Harvey and Bob Weinstein have sued Warner Bros.’ New Line Cinema claiming they’re owned a share of the profits from the second and third “Hobbit” films.

In a suit filed Wednesday in New York, the Weinsteins say their 1998 sale of the rights to J.R.R. Tolkien’s “The Hobbit” and “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy to New Line applies to all subsequent “Hobbit” films. Warner Bros. elected to split “The Hobbit” into three films, the second of which opens in theaters Friday.
