Mad Ants foiled again

Despite 24 points from Ron Howard, the Mad Ants' early season struggles continued and they lost 104-101 to the Iowa Energy Thursday at Memorial Coliseum.

Fort Wayne dropped to 1-4. Iowa, which was led by Othyus Jeffers' 28 points, improved to 4-2.

The Mad Ants got 18 points from Ramon Harris and 15 from Sadiel Rojas, but they missed a flurry of shots late in their quest to tie it. On two of their last three possessions, the Mad Ants turned the ball over and had a traveling violation, preventing them from getting game-tying shots.

Fort Wayne's Chris Hunter, who missed two years of action because of Achilles injuries, had 10 points in 15 minutes, 19 seconds, of play in his return to the lineup.

The Mad Ants were without one of their key players, Trey McKinney-Jones, who has a lower back injury.
