Craigslist seller robs iPad buyer

A man who told police he planned to buy an iPad listed on Craigslist was robbed at gunpoint Sunday by the seller.

About 7:50 p.m., police responded to the 5600 block of East State Boulevard, near Miller’s Merry Manor, to a call about an armed robbery.

The man told police that he had agreed to meet the Craigslist seller in the back parking lot at Miller’s Merry Manor, 5544 E. State Blvd., according to a police report.

The seller of the iPad climbed into the man’s vehicle after telling him he was cold. He turned on the iPad and as the man inspected it, the seller pulled out a black semi-automatic handgun from his pocket and pointed it at the man, the report said.

The man gave the robber his wallet and cellphone and the seller got out of the man’s car, grabbed a bag of groceries that was sitting on the floorboard and fled westbound on Monarch Drive, according to the report.

No additional information about the robber was available Monday.
