New Haven to get local OTB site

INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Horse Racing Commission on Tuesday unanimously approved a new location and redesign of the off-tracking betting facility in Allen County.

The OTB will move to the Lincoln Plaza Shopping Center in New Haven, near a Kroger and a BMV license branch.

It will be dubbed the Winner’s Circle Brewpub and OTB, and include a pub area, event space and OTB seating. It will allow smoking.

Hoosier Park – the Anderson horse track that runs the OTB and is owned by Centaur – will invest $2 million into the new location.

The local OTB has been operating at 1820 W. Washington Center Road in Fort Wayne since 1996. That land will be sold for construction of a new hotel.

The current OTB was described as “an unprofitable, tired, worn facility in a poor location” that appears empty even when occasionally busy.

The commission members had only positive things to say about the new plan, which calls for keeping the OTB’s 30 employees and possibly adding more in the future.
