1 trapped at downtown construction site

FORT WAYNE – A man was stuck in a hole at Main and Webster streets, buried up to his knees, for about 20 minutes, according to the Fort Wayne Fire Department.

Workers were trying to free the man from the excavation site when firefighters arrived at 1:28 p.m., and safety workers were able to get him out by 1:45 p.m., a fire department statement said. It did not identify the man or say how he got into the hole.

He was taken to a city hospital in fair condition with lower-leg injuries, the fire department said.
