Zoo pony Cookie dies

Cookie had been giving rides for more than 20 years at the zoo.

The Fort Wayne Children's Zoo announced Friday that Cookie the pony died late last month.

Cookie died in November at the age of 38, zoo officials said.

Cookie visited with children at the zoo for the past 22 years, though she worked only a few days a week during the last season, according to the zoo's website.

"She was a special girl," said Cheryl Piropato, the zoo's Education and Communications director.
