Hunter falls 16 feet; dies after ending life support

An Adams County man died after he elected to be removed from life support equipment Sunday after an injury resulting from a 16-foot fall from a tree led to paralysis.

Timothy E. Bowers, 32, of Decatur, was deer hunting in the 4500 block of East 450 North on Saturday afternoon when he fell from an elevated tree stand, according to a release from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.

Emergency workers found Bowers and he was transported to Lutheran Hospital in serious condition, according to the release.

Bowers suffered a neck injury and paralysis from the fall.

On Sunday, Bowers decided to be removed from life support. He died at 7:08 p.m., the release said.
