Numerous companies reported earnings Wednesday, including three with a strong local presence.
Franklin Electric Co. Inc. reported record third-quarter earnings of $25.1 million, or 51 cents per diluted share, a 15 percent increase compared with the $21.9 million, or 46 cents a share, posted for the same period of 2012.
The Fort Wayne-based company designs and makes submersible motors and pumping systems used to move water and fuel. Customers include homeowners, municipalities and companies in commercial, agricultural and industrial industries.
Franklin Electric also reported third-quarter sales of $249.8 million, a 5 percent increase over last years third quarter.
Lincoln National Corp. reported third-quarter earnings of $337 million, or $1.23 per diluted share, a 21 percent decline from the $428 million, or $1.51 a share, reported for the same three months of 2012.
The Radnor, Pa.-based financial service provider was founded in Fort Wayne in 1905.
Comcast Corp., the largest cable company in the U.S. and owner of NBC, reported third-quarter gains in phone and Internet subscribers. Net income was $1.73 billion, or 65 cents a share. Sales fell 2.4 percent to $16.2 billion.
Philadelphia-based Comcast added 169,000 home-phone customers and 297,000 broadband subscribers.
