TELL CITY, Ind. – Fire has gutted the three-story brick building that housed a restaurant in the southern Indiana community of Tell City.
Authorities said the fire was reported about 1:30 a.m. Monday at the Capers Restaurant building.
Fire officials told WFIE-TV (http://bit.ly/1geKf2X ) that the blaze started in the basement and the first floor collapsed. Flames eventually burned through the building’s roof, sending a large plume of smoke over the 7,500-person city along the Ohio River about 50 miles east of Evansville.
No injuries were reported from the fire. The cause of the blaze wasn’t immediately determined.
