A Fort Wayne woman is accused of illegally receiving more than $44,000 in unemployment benefits while she was working.
Jo Childers, 49, was charged Friday with a felony count of welfare fraud.
According to court papers, Childers applied for unemployment benefits in December 2009, and she received $331 a week until September 2012.
During the same time, she was earning a paycheck from Wolf Corp., a Fort Wayne mattress maker, papers said.
An investigator with the Indiana Department of Workforce Development discovered the fraud and calculated that Childers was overpaid $44,117 in benefits, court papers stated.
Childers, of the 1800 block of Hale Avenue, was released from the Allen County Jail on her own recognizance Friday.
