Statement as distributed Friday by Larry Lance, executive director of Fort Wayne Area YFC:
With a combined 119 years of service to northeast Indiana teens, two youth organizations have merged in an effort to become more effective and efficient.
Youth for Christ of Northeast Indiana (serving DeKalb, LaGrange, Noble, and Steuben counties) and Fort Wayne Area Youth for Christ (serving Allen, Huntington, Whitley, and Wabash counties) will merge, bringing their ministries under one umbrella that covers eight counties.
The consolidated Youth for Christ organization is now poised to make an even greater impact in the region. Currently, more than 10,000 teens are reached annually through Campus Life clubs, mentoring in the Juvenile Justice System, and educational and recreational programs offered in Auburn and at the Primetime Center in downtown Fort Wayne.
“We’re thrilled with this consolidation,” says State Sen. Dennis Kruse, chair of the YFC Northeast Indiana board of directors. “We’re convinced that our ministries will be better together. Collaborations are more fruitful when people join hands for a common cause.”
“Fort Wayne Area YFC is widely regarded as one of the strongest chapters among all 160 YFC chapters in the nation,” Kruse adds. “Our Northeast Indiana YFC is also a very robust organization. This will be a powerful collaboration.”
The proximity of the two organizations and strong working relationships already in place will make both chapters more effective at reaching teens for Christ.
“Combining our infrastructures will serve to facilitate operations and supervise current and future YFC staff across all counties served,” says Larry Lance, executive director of Fort Wayne Area YFC. “Moreover, by not duplicating overhead and operating expenses, our combined organization will save more than $100,000 annually, which will be used to reach more students at more schools and grow our ministries.”
Youth for Christ reaches young people everywhere, working together with local churches and other like-minded partners to raise up lifelong followers of Jesus who lead by their godliness in lifestyle, devotion to prayer and the Word of God, passion for sharing the love of Christ and commitment to social involvement.
