3Rivers Federal Credit Union is warning members that scammers have been calling people in the area, claiming their debit cards have been deactivated. The recording then prompts the recipient to enter personal account information.
Caller ID shows the calls are coming from 595-5.
As of late this morning, 3Rivers had received dozens of complaints from people who have received the fraudulent, automated calls, spokeswoman Melissa Shaw said.
Officials with the Fort Wayne-based credit union said they will never call or email members asking for account information. 3Rivers already has that information for each account.
Anyone who has given out account information over the phone should immediately contact credit union officials at 800-825-3641, send an email to email@example.com or visit a branch.
