A 28-year-old driver struck a squad car and almost hit a second one during a high-speed chase with Fort Wayne police officers, according to a city police report.
Adam Wolf of Albion was preliminarily charged Tuesday with a felony count of resisting law enforcement and misdemeanor counts of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an accident and criminal recklessness.
About 3:15 a.m. Monday, a woman flagged down a police car at Lima Road and Northland Boulevard and told the officer about a suspicious man who was following her in a Nissan, the report said.
The woman pointed out the Nissan, and when the officer tried to pull it over, the driver attempted to crash into the squad car. The officer mostly avoided the Nissan, which glanced off the back of the squad car. The driver sped away and led police on a chase, during which he nearly struck another squad car, the report stated.
The fleeing driver, who reached speeds of 103 mph in a 35-mph zone, eventually stopped and surrendered to police, the report said. He was not in custody Tuesday at the Allen County Jail.
