Felony counts filed in painkiller holdup
A man accused of robbing a north-side Walgreens of prescription drugs last week now faces formal felony charges.Michael Schlau, 44, was charged Tuesday with felony counts of robbery and possession of a controlled substance, along with a misdemeanor count of resisting law enforcement.Court documents allege that on Sept. 18, Schlau went to the pharmacy counter of the Walgreens, 330 W. State Boulevard. He demanded Opana, a prescription painkiller, and reached for his waistband as though he had a gun, according to court papers.He left the store with the drugs, and a police officer quickly captured him after a short foot chase, court papers stated. He had five bottles of Opana on him, but no gun, authorities said.Schlau, of the 1300 block of West Washington Boulevard, was being held Tuesday night at the Allen County Jail in lieu of $13,250 bail.
