FORT WAYNE – Officials at the Fort Wayne-Allen County Airport Authority announced Wednesday that it has received two federal Airport Improvement Grants from the Federal Aviation Administration totaling about $2.9 million.
One is for $2.74 million to build a new access road to the west side of the airfield with services to the general aviation facilities and Endeavor Air’s aircraft maintenance facility, the announcement said. It will also improve access to the airport’s fuel farm.
The second grant, for $118,000, will go toward buying a new tractor at Smith Field Airport for mowing and snow removal.
