City leaders will sponsor an open house on Wednesday and invite residents to share their opinions on how federal housing money should be used in Fort Wayne.
The information provided will help the Housing and Neighborhood Services Department develop its Annual Action Plan. The plan is a requirement from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and determines how the city uses those federal dollars. That money is supposed to be used to improve quality of life for low- to moderate-income city residents.
Fort Wayne uses the HUD money for programs that attempt to increase access to safe and affordable rental housing, promote home ownership, prevent homelessness and decrease the potential for lead poisoning.
