Police made an arrest Wednesday afternoon shortly after a robber got away with prescription medication from a drugstore on Fort Wayne's north side, city police said.
About 3:20 p.m., a man approached the pharmacy counter of the Walgreens at West State Boulevard and Wells Street, said officer Michael Joyner, a police spokesman.
The man told employees he had a gun and demanded prescription drugs. He left the store with the drugs, and witnesses were able to describe him and tell police the direction he went, Joyner said.
Not far from the Walgreens, an officer found a man matching the robber's description and took him into custody after a short foot chase. The man was not armed at the time, Joyner said.
The man, identified as Michael Schlau, a 44-year-old city resident, is expected to face charges of robbery and resisting law enforcement, Joyner said.
