FORT WAYNE – Local religious organizations and other groups are preparing for Fort Wayne’s observance of International Day of Peace.
The event will begin at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 21 on the plaza at the Allen County Public Library, 900 Webster St., according to a statement issued by the University of Saint Francis.
The university’s Just Peace organization is joining the Peace and Justice Commission of Fort Wayne and Allen County, members of the Plymouth Congregational Church Peace and Justice Committee and Beacon Heights Church of the Brethren in hosting the event.
The event is part of the 24-hour global observance of the International Day of Peace as designated by the United Nations in 2002, Monday’s announcement said. The theme this year is, “Who will you make peace with?”
The event is open to the public.
