FORT WAYNE – South Side picked up its first win with a 27-21 overtime victory over visiting Bishop Luers on Friday.
Trae Masten hit Damon Gentry for a 4-yard touchdown pass in overtime to lift the Archers (1-2, 1-2 SAC).
Donovan Clark opened the scoring with an 11-yard touchdown run for South Side, only to have Class 3A No. 9 Luers (0-3, 0-3) respond with a 1-yard touchdown run from C.J. McCarter with 2:28 left in the second quarter. South Side built a 21-7 lead after three quarters thanks to Dominique Williams 5-yard touchdown run and Mastens 16-yard TD pass to Shaton Harris.
But the Knights responded in the fourth with a 19-yard touchdown run from McCarter with 8:48 to play and a 3-yard touchdown run from Jeremiah Gaston with 5:48 to play.
Luers has dropped its first three games for the first time since 1965.
SNIDER 35, NORTHROP 28: The Panthers rallied past the host Bruins with a 16-7 advantage in the fourth quarter. Jibri Bramley led Class 5A No. 1 Snider (3-0, 3-0 SAC) with 118 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Northrop (1-2, 1-1) got 190 passing yards and two touchdowns from Mike Snyder.
CONCORDIA 35, WAYNE 21: Jon Poore ran for 158 yards with three touchdowns and David Morrison threw for 210 yards to lead the host Cadets (1-2, 1-2 SAC). Keion Powers scored on runs of 40, 5 and 5 yards for the Class 5A No. 7 Generals (2-1, 0-1).
SOUTH ADAMS 22, BLUFFTON 19: The Starfires (2-1, 1-0 ACAC) erased a 12-point deficit in the final 6:56 seconds with a 2-yard touchdown run from Drew LeFever, an 11-yard touchdown catch by Matt Nussbaum and a sack of Malcolm Marshall for a safety. Marshall threw for 260 yards and a touchdown for the Tigers (2-1, 0-1).
ANGOLA 28, EASTSIDE 14: The Hornets (2-1, 2-0 NECC) had five interceptions and two fumble recoveries against the visiting Blazers (1-2, 0-2). Angolas Austin Bauer had three interceptions and rushed for 95 yards and a touchdown.
COLUMBIA CITY 41, BELLMONT 28: Bradon Myer ran for 133 yards with two touchdowns, and Drew ODell ran for 67 yards and three scores to lead the visiting Eagles (2-1, 1-0) against the Braves (1-2, 0-1) in the NHC opener for both teams.
NEW HAVEN 54, DEKALB 0: The host Bulldogs opened NHC play with a blowout victory as Vance Shearer threw for 177 yards and two touchdowns and Ariest Vasquez ran for three touchdowns. Jordan Hogue had seven receptions for 143 yards with a touchdown for New Haven (3-0, 1-0). Price Harrison ran for 49 yards for DeKalb (0-3, 0-1).
CARROLL 70, NORWELL 15: Drue Tranquill ran for 200 yards and scored on runs of 46, 21, 45, 6 and 29 yards to lead the host Class 6A No. 8 Chargers (3-0, 1-0 NHC). Piercen Harnish threw for 105 yards with a touchdown for the Knights (0-3, 0-1).
GARRETT 26, WEST NOBLE 12: Bryit Sumner ran for 167 yards and two touchdowns, and Noah Follett threw for 104 yards and TD and ran for 42 yards and score to lead the visiting Railroaders (2-1). Landon Stover threw for 93 yards with a touchdown and ran for 24 yards and a score for the Chargers (1-2).
CHURUBUSCO 34, PRAIRIE HEIGHTS 0: Cody Conwell led the way for the visiting Eagles (3-0, 3-0 NECC) with 197 rushing yards on 29 carries, and he scored one of Churubuscos five touchdowns against the Panthers (1-2, 1-2) on a 34-yard run.
FAIRFIELD 42, FREMONT 7: Nate Beatty caught a 6-yard touchdown pass from Kaleb Hayes to pull the Eagles (0-3, 0-3 NECC) even with the Falcons (2-1, 2-1) in the first quarter, but visiting Fremont responded with 35 unanswered points.
LAKELAND 51, CENTRAL NOBLE 14: Garren Deck and Jordon Cooper scored on runs of 8 and 32 yards for the host Cougars (0-3, 0-3 NECC), but it wasnt enough as William Kelly threw for 148 yards and three touchdowns for the Lakers (3-0, 3-0).
WARSAW 20, PLYMOUTH 19: Austin Head threw touchdown passes of 64 and 10 yards in the final 10 minutes to lift the host Tigers (2-1, 1-0 NLC). Head finished with 208 passing yards against Plymouth (2-1, 0-1), and Tanner Balazas had six catches for 157 yards and a touchdown. Conner McCammack caught Heads other TD toss.
