Columbia City senior running back/linebacker Sam Dailey was upgraded to fair condition, a Lutheran Hospital official confirmed Tuesday.
Dailey has been in critical condition since a head injury suffered during the third quarter of the Eagles 33-14 loss at Warsaw last Friday.
Dailey was eventually taken to Lutheran Hospital and had surgery to relieve pressure on his brain, Eagles coach Randy Hudgins said Saturday.
BELLMONT INVITATIONAL: South Adams won the boys team title, led by Brody Shanes first place as an individual. Leos Lindsey Marriott won the girls individual title.
BISHOP DWENGER 190, CONCORDIA 206: Katie Giants 42 led the Saints at Coyote Creek. Kylee Calloway had a 44 for the Cadets.
CARROLL 3, CANTERBURY 2: The visiting Chargers scored three times in the second half to slip past the state champion Cavaliers. Britt Watts scored twice in the first half to give Canterbury a 2-0 lead before Carroll got second-half goals from Bayden Lee, Ibrahim Al-awadi and Tyler Sidwell.
DEKALB 7, LAKELAND 2: The Barons improved to 4-0 with the home win. Brennan Cochran scored four goals for DeKalb.
WEST NOBLE 12, ANGOLA 1: Uriel Macias had two goals and an assist and Uriel A. Macias had three goals and an assist to lead the host Chargers. Gabe Macias also had two goals for West Noble.
WARSAW 1, NORTHROP 0: Manuel Rodriguez got the only goal for the host Tigers. Cameron Fox had nine saves for the Bruins.
LEO 2, CARROLL 1: The host Lions scored both goals in the second half for the schools first-ever win against the Chargers. Elizabeth Stoller and Megan Jones scored for Leo, while Amber Hoot scored for the Chargers.
NORWELL 5, SOUTH SIDE 0: The visiting Knights improved to 2-0. Jordan Dickey won at No. 1 singles 7-6 (7-3), 7-6 (7-4) to lead Norwell.
BELLMONT 3, CONCORDIA 2: The Class 3A No. 4 Braves won in five games on the road against the Cadets, who received honorable mention in 3A. Game scores were 26-28, 25-22, 20-25, 25-13, 15-7.
