It was a lost night in Michigan for the TinCaps on Wednesday.

A five-run third for West Michigan torpedoed the TinCaps in the first game.
After Reynaldo Bruguera and Alberth Martinez drove in runs with RBI singles in the TinCaps’ half, Bennett Pickar’s leadoff single and Bruegera’s fielding error opened the door for West Michigan. Jeff Holm’s two-run single and Lance Dunham’s three-run homer did the rest.
Joe Ross took the loss for the TinCaps. West Michigan starter Jordan John got the win, striking out 13 in six innings.
In the nightcap, West Michigan starter Jeff Thompson pitched six scoreless innings to get the win, giving up just four hits.
Notes: The Padres moved catcher Ryan Miller from short-season Class A Eugene to Fort Wayne and catcher Miguel Del Castillo from Fort Wayne to Eugene. Del Castillo was 4-for-31 with 3 RBI in nine games for the TinCaps. Miller, a 14th round draft selection in June, hit .245 with 9 RBI in 43 games with the Emeralds.
