Fiery US 33 crash kills 1

The Mercer County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a fatal traffic crash this weekend on U.S. 33, southeast of Rockford, Ohio.

The county’s central dispatch received a call at 3:31 a.m. Sunday about the crash west of Lombard Road.

The sheriff’s department said Justin M. Hamrick, 25, of Rockford, died at the scene.

Eddy P. Blossom, 28, of Rockford, was flown to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, the sheriff’s department said. His condition was not available Monday morning.

The maroon 2002 Jeep Liberty was going west on U.S. 33, went off the north said of the road, hit two trees and then burst into flames, according to a statement issued Monday by the sheriff's department.

Rockford is about 40 miles southeast of Fort Wayne.
