Three people were arrested early Tuesday after a burglary at the Barbee Hotel in Warsaw, the Kosciusko County sheriff's department said today.
Deputies responded about 1:55 a.m. to the hotel, 3620 N. Barbee Road, on a report of a possible burglary in progress, the sheriff's department said in a statement.
It said officers discovered where entry may have occurred through a window, and a witness told deputies several people left the area of a removed window air-conditioning unit carrying what appeared to be bottles.
With the assistance of a Warsaw city police K-9 unit, deputies were led to a residence on EMS B70 lane, the statement said. It said officers obtained a search warrant for the property after the person answering the door refused to allow officers to enter to investigate the burglary.
Once inside, the statement said, deputies located people matching the description of the fleeing burglars and other potential evidence.
They said they arrested Sarah Ann Cummins, 21, of Bloomington, and Tommy James Coonan, 20, of Fort Wayne, on preliminary charges of felony burglary, and their bonds were set at $5,000 each.
The statement said a 52-year-old Fort Wayne man was preliminarily charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor because of what police called an underage party occurring at the residence. His bond was set at $500.
The county prosecutor's office assisted in the investigation, police said.
