LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Emergency crews have found a body inside a car that apparently crashed into the Wabash River near Lafayette.
Tippecanoe County sheriff’s Sgt. Andy Cree said the car was spotted in the rain-swollen river Friday morning near the U.S. 52 bypass bridge. The Journal & Courier reports that the car was submerged and upside down as workers used a wrecker to pull it from the river.
Cree told WLFI-TV the car could have gone off a road that runs along river late Thursday or early Friday, when storms passed through the area.
