Boating, speed restrictions lifted on area lakes

Indiana Department of Natural Resources Director Rob Carter said Tuesday that lake levels have returned to acceptable levels for normal boat operation.

Effective immediately, people can operate a motorboat on the following LaGrange County Lakes: Indian Lake Chain including Westler Lake, Witmer Lake, Dallas Lake, Hackenburg Lake and Messick Lake.

Also, the previous motorboat speed restriction order has been lifted and is now returned to normal boat operation on the following lakes: Barbee Lake Chain including Kuhn, Big Barbee, Little Barbee, Irish, Sechrist, Sawmill and Banning Lakes. Also, the Tippecanoe Lake Chain including Lake Tippecanoe, James Lake (Little Tippy) and Oswego Lakes.
