Sambora to miss leg of tour

Guitarist Richie Sambora will not be performing with Bon Jovi during the current leg of the band’s Because We Can tour.

The band, on its website, cited “personal issues.” The band says all shows will go on as scheduled. No other information was given.

The 53-year-old has struggled with substance abuse. He has done several stints in rehab.

Bon Jovi is slated to perform in Edmonton, Canada, on Wednesday, and the current leg of the tour is scheduled to end April 25 in San Jose, Calif.

Writer dying

Scottish writer Iain Banks said Wednesday he has been diagnosed with late-stage gall bladder cancer and has just months to live.

Banks says it is “extremely unlikely” he will live more than a year and that his latest novel, “The Quarry,” will likely be his last.

The 59-year-old said he is “officially very poorly” and is weighing the pros and cons of chemotherapy to extend his life.

Banks writes general fiction and science fiction, the latter under the name Iain M. Banks.

Margera an artist

The star of “Jackass” is showing off his artistic side.

Bam Margera put several dozen of his own paintings up for sale Tuesday at a barn on his property in West Chester, outside Philadelphia.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Margera’s subjects are as varied as naked women and buses driving off cliffs. He’s been painting for about three years.
