Awards/recognition

Mac and Pat Parker were awarded the Janus Award by the McMillen Center for Health Education for their involvement in community and health and wellness. The award is the center’s highest honor and was presented to the Parkers on Thursday during the Vitality Awards. Also receiving awards was Linda Kerr, Mary Pat Leonard and Nancy Mann. Kelsey Futter received the 2013 Student Ambassador award.

Alyssa Ivanson Losier of Fort Wayne received the Big Sister of the Year award by the Indiana Big Sisters organization.

Donations sought

The Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 5310 Old Mill Road, is collecting items such as money, grocery and gas gift cards, cat litter and food, paper towels, fresh fruit, frozen beef, venison or poultry and broad/flat-end shovels for Black Pine Animal Sanctuary in Albion. Items can be dropped off through March at the church from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday through Thursday.

Fundraiser

One Dog at a Time Rescue is having a Party Paws Fundraiser from 6 to 10 p.m. today at the Knights of Columbus in Warsaw. Cost is $20 in advance or $25 at the door and includes food and music.
