Brownsburg senior Miss Basketball
Brownsburgs Stephanie Mavunga was named the 2013 Indiana Miss Basketball, announced Wednesday by the sponsoring Indianapolis Star.
Mavunga received 79 votes from media members and coaches across the state.
Mavunga won by five votes, 79-74, over Hamilton Southeasterns Taya Reimer. It was the closest voting in the annual award for seniors since Connersvilles April McDivitt edged New Albanys Kennitra Johnson by three votes in 1999.
Both are McDonalds All-Americans, and Reimer received McDonalds Morgan Wooten Award as the top female player in America. Mavunga was the Gatorade/ESPN Indiana Player of the Year.
She averaged 23.2 points, 12.7 rebounds and 3.8 blocks.
