Rudisill shooting victim dies; suspect charged with murder

A 22-year-old Fort Wayne man shot at Rudisill Boulevard and Indiana Avenue today has died, and a suspect has been charged with his slaying, Fort Wayne police said tonight.

Gerelle R. Borum was walking along Rudisill about 1:10 p.m. when he was fired upon by Josiah C. Thomas, 22, of Fort Wayne, who was traveling in a red-and-white truck, police said in a statement.

Several witnesses saw the truck flee from the area, the statement said.

It said officers located the vehicle, made a traffic stop and detained Thomas for questioning.

Thomas is being held at the Allen County Jail on a murder charge, the statement said.

The shooting remains under investigation by city police, the Allen County Coroner's Office and the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.
