Allen County dust-control signup begins April 1

Allen County residents who want the highway department to apply dust control material on stone and gravel roads this spring will be able to sign up beginning April 1, the county announced Tuesday.

Residents can choose asphalt emulsion for $1.50 per linear foot or calcium chloride at $1.02 per linear foot, the announcement said. Either option requires a minimum 200-foot application.

The department will schedule with suppliers to begin applications May 6, depending on weather and road conditions, the county said. Materials are applied in two treatments and span the full width of the road.

Residents can sign up in person April 1 to 30 at the following locations:

  • Highway department main office, 200 E. Berry St., Suite 280, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays.
  • North Maintenance Facility, 2234 Carroll Road, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays.
  • South Maintenance Facility, 8317 Tillman Road, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays.
Payment is by check or money order only.
