The East Allen County Schools board is conducting a series of meetings this week to gather ideas for its search for a superintendent. Meetings are scheduled with teachers and staff, as well as with community members and parents.
Meetings for community members and parents are set for Wednesday and Thursday in each of the school attendance areas.
Superintendent Karyle Greens resignation was effective March 2. The board opted not to appoint an interim replacement, choosing to distribute responsibilities for day-to-day operations among top administrators.
They hope to begin interviewing candidates in June and name a superintendent by July.
Meet with the mayor
Mayor Tom Henry is holding a Mayors Night In today. Fort Wayne residents interested in meeting with the mayor at his office to discuss a concern, ask questions about a project or share a suggestion can schedule a 10-minute appointment.
Residents can reserve a meeting time with the mayor by calling 427-1288. Meetings are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis. However, people who have met recently with the mayor are put on a waiting list to ensure all residents get an opportunity for a meeting.
Transportation plans
Northeast Indiana Regional Coordinating Council is holding an open house today to give residents an opportunity to review two proposed plans.
The first is the 2014-2017 Transportation Improvement Program, which includes all of the road, pedestrian and bicycle projects funded with federal dollars. The second is the proposed 2035 Transportation Plan, which is the updated long-range plan governing all local transportation projects.
Both plans are also available online at NIRCC.com.
