25-year-old shooting victim identified

Officials on Sunday identified the victim of Friday morning's fatal shooting in the 3400 block of Reed Street.

Mark B. Young, 25, died at Lutheran Hospital due to multiple gunshot wounds after the 3:30 a.m. shooting on Reed Street west of South Anthony Boulevard, according to the Allen County Coroner's office.

Early Friday morning, witnesses reported hearing gunshots and then seeing the man dumped out of a car in the middle of the street, police said.

Young was taken to a hospital, where he died hours later, police said.

A car, which investigators believe was involved in the shooting, was found at Colerick and Oliver streets, where it had crashed into a bush. Witnesses said someone fled on foot, according to police.

Young's death is the 9th homicide in Allen County in 2013. He was one of three persons shot, two of whom have died, in about a 32-hour period beginning Thursday night.

It is not known if the shootings are linked, but police aren't ruling out the possibility of a connection, a city police spokesman said.

The incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Coroner's Office and the Allen County Prosecutors Office.
