IU, Irish to meet in Soccer Festival

The national champions are coming to Fort Wayne again.

Indiana’s men’s soccer team, which began last season here and ended it by winning the 2012 NCCA championship, will kick off 2013 with a spring game April 13 against Notre Dame as part of the Shindigz National Soccer Festival.

Indiana won the College Cup for the eighth time in the program’s storied history with a 1-0 victory over Georgetown at Regions Park in Birmingham, Ala., in December.

Indiana’s game against Notre Dame carries a 5 p.m. start time and will be played at Fort Wayne Sport Club, 3102 Ardmore Ave.

Discount tickets are available for $5 at participating area Walgreen’s locations, all Conolly’s Do it Best Hardware stores and 800 Degree restaurants.

Game-day tickets are $7 for adults at the gate.
