Saint Francis women win

SIOUX CITY, Iowa - No. 2 Saint Francis wasted no time in pulling away from No. 18 Saint Xavier (Ill.) on Friday winning 82-69.

Saint Francis led the entire game and dominated the paint in outscoring Saint Xavier, 48-20, in the lane.

Saint Francis held Saint Xavier to 29-percent shooting in the first half. Ten minutes into the game, Saint Francis had built a 13-point lead. The lead continued to grow and by halftime Saint Francis had pulled ahead by 19 points.

The Saint Francis lead grew to as many as 25 in the second half with 13 minutes to go in the game. Saint Xavier did not have an answer for a balance scoring attack by Saint Francis, which saw five players score in double-figures.

Brooke Ridley and Kayla Drake led Saint Francis with 14 points, while Skylarr Shurn followed with 11. Morgan Stuut topped Saint Xavier with 13 points.

With the win, Saint Francis advances to the quarterfinals where it will face Northwestern at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Tyson Event Center.
