Fire damages North Anthony home

A fire caused moderate damage to a home at 1130 N. Anthony Blvd. south of Lake Avenue shortly after midnight Friday, according to the Fort Wayne Fire Department.

Firefighters were called to the residence about 12:10 a.m. and found smoke and fire in the basement and had the blaze under control by 12:30 a.m., the fire department said.

Eight people evacuated safely and firefighters rescued three dogs from the home. No injuries to any of the residents or pets were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Fort Wayne Fire Department.
