Police officer hurt in crash

A Warsaw police officer was taken to an area hospital with back pain after a crash Thursday afternoon, according to a Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department crash report.

The officer, Clay A. Layne, was driving east on Sheridan Street in Warsaw shortly after 4 p.m. when his cruiser was in a crash with a car going south on Colfax Street, the report said.

Carrie C. Graves, 60, of Claypool, told police she stopped at a stop sign and did not see any oncoming traffic before pulling out, according to the report. The front of her car struck the driver's side of the police car, the report said.
