2 charged with possessing meth ingredients

Two Kendallville men have been charged with possessing precursors with the intent to manufacture methamphetamine, Indiana State Police said today.

Daniel J. Campbell, 36, and Zachary M. Knight, 19, were being held at the Noble County Jail, state police at Fort Wayne said in a statement.

Police said the men entered a Kendallville gas station about 5:30 p.m. Thursday. Campbell exited and got into a pickup truck, they said, and moments later, as Knight was about to get into the truck, the owner of the gas station exited and ordered him to stop.

Knight took off running, police said, and Campbell began to drive away, but was stopped by Troopers John Silver and Nicholas Hoffman.

A search of Campbell's truck turned up lithium batteries, and a box of Sudafed pills was found on Campbell's person, they said.
