Police: Cleanup ends in pot, guns, arrest

FORT WAYNE – Officers from the Fort Wayne Police Narcotics Unit were watching a house on the city’s north side Tuesday, and wondered what the residents of the home were taking and throwing into large trash bins at area apartments.

The trail, they reported, eventually led to half a pound of marijuana and two firearms.

Officers were watching a house in the 5500 block of Dartmouth Drive after an armed robbery attempt there the night before. Detectives reported seeing the cleanup attempt and then recovering the dumped items.

The items, police said, were plants and materials used to grow marijuana. The home was searched Wednesday, and officers reported finding an indoor pot-growing operation.

The guns and pot were seized, police said, as well as drug paraphernalia.

Michael Studle, 37, of the home, was arrested and charged with dealing marijuana, possession of marijuana, maintaining a common nuisance and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.
