Officials probe ‘guns loaded’ message on class blackboard

LAKE STATION, Ind. – An Indiana teacher accused of writing a threatening message on a chalkboard after having what students described as a “meltdown” during class is the subject of investigations by police and school officials.

WLS in Chicago reports (http://bit.ly/162XEDs) that Lake Station police met Monday with students and officials at Edison Junior-Senior High School to discuss the incident.

The message, according to the store, included the phrases “You are idiots,” “The guns are loaded” and “Care to try me?”

Supt. Dan DeHaven said the teacher wasn’t in school Monday and wouldn’t be back pending an internal investigation.

He said the teacher has worked at the school for about 28 years and has no disciplinary record.

Police will submit their report to prosecutors to determine whether charges are warranted.
